BIO
I moved to Wiltshire twenty five years ago and immediately fell in love with the Wiltshire Landscape and the great diversity of wildlife and habitats that it has to offer.
As a childhood naturalist I was fortunate to develop a career in Nature Conservation working for Natural England and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. I now dedicate my time to photography.
I am interested in creating images that give expression to the sublime beauty and wonder of the natural world, and sharing them with others.
ARTWORK
In recent years I have created an extensive portfolio of images of the Ancient Trees of Savernake Forest which I have developed into a series of Limited Edition Fine Art Prints. With a background working in nature conservation I am fascinated by the centuries of social and economic history of the Forest that is manifest in the diverse shape and form of the Ancient Oak and Beech Trees. I have also created a portfolio of images of the Wiltshire Landscape including the Pewsey Vale, Avebury and Caen Hill Locks. I particularly enjoy waking up with the day, experiencing the sunrise casting its light across a misty dawn landscape.
I have also developed a unique portfolio of Fine Art Prints of native orchid species photographed in the wild, assembled into montages, inspired by the Victorian illustrators who created such wonderful artistic illustrations of our native plants.
As a community of Artists I believe we have an important role to play in fostering a deep love for nature and in promoting the essential need to maintain and support nature in the face of many environmental challenges. A healthy, vibrant, rich natural world is fundamental to all our wellbeing. I hope that my photography might perhaps evoke a shared memory or stimulate a deep reference for the natural world.
